FAQs
Organizations based in or serving the communities of El Paso and Teller Counties.
Most of the funding will occur twice a year. Applications are due each Jan. 31 and July 31 (although you can submit year-round). The council reviews them in February and August. Applicants make their presentations in March and September and funding decisions are announced after the presentations.
In addition, the council may identify specific unmet needs and announce grants for them on an ad hoc basis. Application deadlines, review periods and decision timelines would vary with each announcement.
The biannual grants will fund programs meeting five needs, and successful proposals must address at least one of them:
- Youth prevention
- Community prevention, education and awareness
- Medication-assisted treatment/medications for opioid use disorder
- Recovery supports and transitions
- Family advocacy
The ad hoc grants will be more flexible, funding community needs and service gaps identified by the Council.
Complete this application form. Applications can be submitted at any time and will be reviewed during the biannual review periods (or the specific timeline for an ad hoc opportunity).
You’ll be asked for a detailed project description, including:
- Timeline
- Expected outcomes
- Proposed budget
- Your organization’s history, relevant experience, and capacity to execute the project
- Alignment with scope of work. How well does the proposed project align with Council’s goals?
- Proposed execution. How organized and feasible are the timeline and plan?
- Organizational experience. What about the organization makes it the best choice to achieve these objectives?
- Proposed costs. Is the budget efficient, reasonable and detailed?
- Project sustainability. How financially sustainable is the proposed project in the long term?
- Evaluation metrics. How will we know if the project did what it was supposed to?
If your application is not approved for funding, we encourage you to reapply during the next cycle or visit this page for future funding opportunities.
